“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. (John 14:1)

Transition can be hard. Whether we are starting a new job, moving to a new town, going to college, or living on our own for the first time, we are entering into the unfamiliar. We are leaving our comfort zone and for most that can be a very scary concept.

The disciples were about to embark on a new journey as well. They were about to say goodbye to their beloved teacher and God. Jesus spoke these words on Maundy Thursday the day before we was to be crucified.

Soon the disciples were going to be on their own without the constant physical presence of Jesus. This was a scary thought for the disciples. How were they going to survive on their own?

Yet, they were not going to be alone. Jesus asked his disciples to trust in him. Even though the disciples were not going to see Jesus with their eyes didn’t mean that he wasn’t there. In fact he was going to remain with his disciples every step of the way.

Knowing that Jesus was still constantly connected to them would give the disciples the confidence to move on to their next journey in life: to preach God’s Word to all the world making disciples of all nations.

The same goes for us. Jesus still hasn’t left his people. Yeah it is true we can’t see him with our own eyes but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t there. He has never left and he asks us to trust him in this.

This means that we are not really alone. Jesus is with us every second of every day. He is there when life is going well and when it goes very poorly. Even when our family and friends are nowhere to be found we can trust that Jesus is really there. We can trust Jesus because he gave his life for your salvation and he isn’t about to let us fend for ourselves.

Happy to know that I can trust in my Savior to be with me all my life: JUST LIKE YOU!

Blessings,
